Yesterday when speaking to a full house of application developers at WWDC in San Francisco, Steve Jobs hit the sweet spot with his audience by quoting an e-mail from an excited owner of iPad:
I was sitting in a café with my iPad, and it got a girl interested in me. Now that’s what I call a magical device!
It is of course quite understandable that people get thrilled about good things that happen to them suddenly, unexpectedly and against all odds — and in an exalted state like this it is easy to make a mistake and confuse interest towards a mechanical gadget in your possession with an interest towards your person. That said, I am sure that there will be hundreds of people flashing their iPads in public places in coming months, preying on unsuspecting members of the opposite sex. As there have been over 2 million iPads sold in first two months, the world should be on a brink of a demographic explosion in coming seven months or so.
Reproductive function aside, there’s a great article on fakesteve.net on iPad — go and read it.
